Happy Holidays- My Solution to World Peace

I was playing in August all night but did come up with a conclusion that was worthy of a final post for '08...

If everyone on the planet would just head to the beach in their pajamas we could solve all the world's  problems- I am quite sure of it.

Unplug and hug your friends & family this holiday- I will do the same-see you in 09- XO Bill

Sunny 61 Degrees? No- Here's WInter Day One...

Sorry Left Coast I realize it's barely in the 60's today in Laguna- extra sweater on the golf course I guess?  Apologies for no image of MT W, which started this blog in May, as it is will not be seen today-but I bet it will be spectacular when the sun does come out!  Forecast of 15-23" more to come but we'll what the "official" snow stick says about that total when it's all said and done... Fore!- BL

Dear Santa, Travel mugs please...

Ok so I have time for none of this... but the fact that Apple makes a product that still works when submerged  should be noted. Credit to R.S. Thing for teaching me the wonders of saving your "wet" phone with rubbing alcohol when I tossed one in Fore Street's toilet but today we may have pushed the limit...

So if Santa could bring me a few travel mugs with covers so the iPhone can't jump in the mug as it did today while driving that would be great- Happy Holidays-fear not the old iPhone is on line and we'll see if we can assemble "3G" once it dries out... BL

It is "Raining" Here...

Post Turkey Greetings- hugs to all I missed in person yesterday-
It's been all rain on the coast and down south and we did get a good drenching last week here too-on top of 8-10 of snow- more "rain" this am as you can see here at Planet Moat Mountain but let's keep this to ourselves shall we.  We will have to share soon enough.  Welcome back winter friends Erik & Leah- I am a better skier from trying to keep up with you two in 07/08 and it's a treat to race you to the first AM chair again in 08/09.   I am a thankful human... -BL

Welcome Home Otto!

Otto was the first member of the Team Dugus coming home party to arrive from Seattle. Landing in Grandma Maxine's lap at Logan Tuesday night so with a Wednesday low am tide we got to the beach early to shake out the travel crate
legs- nice thing about when your Sunday morning is Wednesday and the weekend warriors are in their cubicles- we owned the place- too cold for the "Double Chai Latte" crowd anyway- just the way we like it...-BL

Hound Dog XVI... FORE!

I am normally on the left coast by this weekend for the pure golf mayhem know as the Hound Dog- this year is the 16th-no way to explain it- you just have to experience it!  Happy Birthday Marky Mark! Be there soon guys!

My self-prescribed overdose of productivity has me here in the rain vs the sun.  Fear not- turns out there are special top secret happenings on this coast- we'll make the best of the weather- we always do.  -BL

The Work of Vincent Laforet-Silly Price!

I had the privilege of attending a workshop given by this world class guy this week- a Sunday in Boston well spent- he if offering one of his incredible prints (just click on #1 in this gallery and drill in) at silly discounts staring at $40.00 to fund a student scholarship program- neat idea and he asked for some blog space.  No problem. Vincent's work from above will get your attention and stop you in your tracks- hold on! -BL

Sauve Rico Officially Turns 50!

The celebration started last week in Moab without me but Carl has proven that you can have triplets in your forties and still make it to 50 which he did today!

It has been a few weeks since you took that first ride in my Saab to M&B's wedding-I remember you gave a nice toast and if I had just stayed hidden in the back seat of the honeymoon car...

1/2 way to 100 my friend- See you there!  Your kids will be 57 then and I am thinking your chest hair will be all gray by then too!
Big Love

Apple to Buy AT&T Wireless & Operate it like a REAL company!

I have no intention of turning my blog into a rant on AT&T Wireless but the difference between Apple's (you rock!) support of the iPhone and AT&T support of the network is mind boggling... You reach an Apple Human by phone in 10 seconds 24/7- My call to AT&T last Friday- I was on hold for over an hour and the bottom line is that they "committed" to me that they would be back to me in 1 to 3 DAYS!

Saturday I was in East Conway (03818) standing next to a guy with 4 bars of AT&T Edge signal and I had "No Service"- I failed to take a photo of his phone is my only regret!

I was in Boston yesterday ironically at an Apple workshop- my iPhone was rocking on the 3G network so it's not a hardware issue- I called and chatted with Apple folks twice- AT&T Customer Service is closed on Sundays- welcome to the new AT&T- Steve Jobs will save your company too as he takes over the world- BL

Hey AT&T Wireless...HELLOOOOOOOO!!!

My new new (yes two tries) 3G iPhone works just fine in beautiful South Chatham... Boy did Apple (you rock!) choose the wrong dance partner... AT&T you've got till Monday 11/3 to figure it out- or there will more than a new Prez next week - BL

Sebago Fall Bonsai

I see that the Bonsai Zen Master has ben doing some fine Fall work!  I also had to smile at the message the aliens left on their last visit- it certainly sums up how we all feel about the place.  Note to self- more lake time in '09... BL

July in October!

An extra BIG thank you to everyone that had to wait for me to emerge from the summer upgrade and it is nice to have caught up (mostly!) as the leaves are beyond peak here in the valley- I appreciate all your support and the "WOWs" about the work.  I am very lucky to have loyal clients who "get it"... Talk About Screams!

The folks at Cranmore have ask me to cover their second season of "The Ghoullog" .  We took a test run last week in the rain and fog- scary perfect.  Quite an impressive production and well worth a fall trip to the Valley (better than the foliage!) check out the link- BOOO! -BL

Last Look At Summer?

September Greetings- Fall rules the seasons right after winter of course-that's why we live here...

I am not rushing the harvest moon which does come in summer this year. (Fun Fact: Full Moon closest to the autumn equinox is the Harvest Moon- which is 9/15/08) BUT based on the morning air the last few days days the trees on Shawnee Peak still sporting summer colors yesterday will be joining the color parade soon- making way for out favorite color- white! -BL

Coming Up for Air!

Sorry for the lack of eye candy in August but all the new workflow
software options that I have been testing felt like I checked back in to college- I can honestly say I never worked this hard learning anything in school. Very happy it rained for the first two weeks of the month!  The new tools in the tool box are amazing and worth the the continued effort- learning never stops in our digi world-stay tuned... Thanks to Rio's annual summer visit for a Sebago stop- surf was up! Grab summer now! -BL

Thanks Captain!

No its not August but I got dragged away from returning home by Captain Leo for a breath of fresh air and the best view of the clearest star gazing night in the bay- just what the digital doctor ordered.  As much as Portland has been overrun by adoring folks from away it is nice to see they haven't figured out how to use their fancy boats yet and have no clue about the Opera performances at the Fort-we owned the place-let's keep it that way shall we...  -BL

iPhone gets a BIG Brother!

Yes it's true-bad July blogger skills but I am alive and well now!  Sorry to my people, all three of you, who no longer call or even email thinking they can gain all the updates they need right here!  There is never a good time to upgrade your technology and work-flow but I jumped in and must say what a delight to have a MacBook that can do anything I ask anywhere -so here is the first post of many from the "titanium" deck.  See you in August-BL

No Moose.. But what a great reason to return!

Well this Sunday was a rain out at Moosehead Lake so no chance of a Moose "capture" after breakfast at Auntie M's. But no worries-I am very glad to have a reason to return... soon! Seem to always be great dogs in my path- I got to hang out a bit with "Muffy" who is the Le Grand Dame of the Cookish's estate- the great folks who put me up lake side for the weekend just up the street from the magnificently elegant Blair Hill Inn. Polly & Chris put on one of the classiest stress free weddings I have had the privilege of documenting- but in keeping with my old school tradition they will be the first to see the images. So no sneak peeks...
Yes left coast folks the ducks are real and they don't play hockey! -BL

Well why would one come all this way and not "remote post" on a Sunday morning... Having breakfast with Buster of "Buster's Odd Jobs"- pure Maine. Too bad the real camera is in the car! Maybe I'll go find a Moose... -BL

"Lucky " X 2!

Yes it's a Cat... WOOF! Long story as all of of you in the know understand. "Lucky" showed up this pass Sunday and after a taking 20 mile ride under the car... Hence the name Lucky and double the luck when Dr. Kate of Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital asked to if she could give the gray gal a home if needed. Lucky landed at Dr. Kate's today- another World Class Vet in my path- lucky Lucky... -BL

Summer is here... Don't Blink!

Yes Mt W is still sporting some snow that should make it to July 4th- the last remains of the record winter that still has us smiling... But for the 8 weeks we call summa in up here we maximize every second.

Dust off the camera-charge the batteries and make sure you have plenty of memory as it is cheaper than a 1/2 tank of gas now... I can't be everywhere so control your "capture" destiny and push the button! February is coming... BL

Dad's Day- Your Photographic DNA

I can't think of a better rainy Dad's Day morning than to get to some of the personal stuff on the "to do" list. I have been entrusted with the Lee Family archives from the 50's- Dad's Polaroid's mostly- originals that need to be digitized to preserve and share.

I had never noticed this one until this morning and I have flip through the pages of these albums dozens of time. Yes that is me at about 10 weeks the notes say- with Mom and a rare Dad image in the mirror. I can not think of a more appropriate way to honor his memory then to preserve his work. Mom will kill me if I post her swim suit pictures and since I certainly will need her help with all "who is this?" images I will be kind. I will be dedicating most of my 50th anniversary year to practicing what I preach- using the project to educate and motivate those who desire to put the time & effort into their photographic DNA. Preserve before it's too late. -BL

May Turns to June

Seems only appropriate that we keep this dog theme going as May gets ready to turn to June. I was quoted this week as saying that when I become famous all my clients will be dogs-which is true. I am quite sure that most of my human clients are dog people so there maybe a loophole to bend the dog rule. A thankful M-Day week with Rio (photo) around for the holiday- and a reminder from the sudden loss of Good Dog Ginger that life is short and fleeting at times... Hug your Dog-see you in June-BL

I was able to get by CAPOZZA World Headquarters last Friday and finally see the completed trade show booth- impressive if I do say so. Always gratifying to see the "create" part of my image work and the results of many folks time & efforts. I was lucky and got super-model Mr. C to stand in for scale... Great job Linda! -BL

Mom's Day Moto!

BIG thanks to my Mom for a pass on M-Day so I could catch Blake's first race & first win of the season. I usually capture Blake tossing Big Air (below) above snow so this was my first chance to get to his summer passion and WOW talk about action... wild! Nice work Team PPC Racing- great results!- BL

Happy Cinco! - Summer Must Be Coming!

That very special "Made in USA" Mexican Holiday is here and it means summer is coming- even if winter seemed to hang on in New England last week with temps in the 20's! Mom's Day rules so there is a bunch of stuff to get out this week. So no more blogging fun till then!

Live Free & Blog?

I am quite sure based on my keen observations that blogging is mostly talking to yourself so on that grounds here I am... Mostly to figure out how this free Google thing works in advance of a new website. I think the line between website and blog is blurring. There is a premeditated purpose that will drive my blog bus-beyond the normal shameless self-promotion. Simply: "Where will your digital images be in 20 years"- I ask everyone interested that question- no one has a clue. I am not sure I know the answer and I deal with the question for a living. -BL
