Happy Solstice and First Christmas to Haddie and Team Gilson- certainly the highlight of the crazy holiday week... XO GUB

I am staying committed to stopping along the way so I did so again yesterday (been told it takes 4-6 weeks to break a habit). Returning from a very fun meeting with 2011 B&G Taylor and Jeremy I pulled over and waded thru the few remaining tourist. Shooting HDR images (these are not-FYI) forces me to use a tripod and the culture of pocket point n' blur and phone camera folks look at you like you're flying the space shuttle when you pull a real camera out and they scurry away... it's rather fun! So a classic backside view and a not so classic view of the Rock Pile dressed in October white. My favorite color- T&J look forward to looking at the views with you again next May... BL

Forget the fact that winter is why we live here- the upside to the winds cleaning up the foliage to where only the strong leafs survive till Halloween is the backyard view and that the ledges start to appear at the backdoor... I hesitate to declare the Rock official white for the season but based on this AM's view tough not to think we are there... BL

I have the privilege of living in an place where the fire hydrants are ponds along the backroads that keep me sane in a summer full of travel. I stopped yesterday coming from Cornish- rare but necessary on occasion. I knew that monsoon wind and rain that are here today would turn an already fading fall into November, my least favorite time of year with the shorting daylight and snow yet to cover the ground. Note to self- stop more often on the backroads... BL

There will be no quality blogging in summer until there is more than one of me as I have come to grips with the fact that doing what I do summers will just evaporate. The good news is that I have them captured so I know where the moments go. What a treat last week was in Cooperstown, NY and a very special way to end August. I am still smiling.
Something about this mornings BSD sensor check that made me pause- nothing like an almost clean sensor as we hit July. A summer of camera time which at the end of all the chatter is what is important. It's not the device it's what is in front of it that counts- that is where legacy lives. Turn off the devices-get outside and look up. See all of you who get that soon... BL
This weeks weather has finally brought some natural snow to the backyard- much more on the mountains is the even better news as we got a mix of rain, falling slush and finally some snow here in the valley. I may get out to actually see winter. I have skied once without a camera on my body this winter. Why? I have been hunkered down in the Cave finally getting my portfolio site up which besides a few minor tweaks is about to "go live" in the next few days. So this blog which has served as my default "hodgepodge" web presence is about to be upstaged, in theory at least. My biggest challenge has always been shameless self promotion but looking back over the the past 1/2 decade of digital image work has convince me I have something of value to offer. So in a Winter Olympic year here comes my olympic effort- a look back to move forward. Long over due as the 4 people who read this know. My thanks to those who have gotten me here- my new site effort was dedicated and driven by your faith in my work- corny but so true... XO Bill
This was easy- I am big fan of the Winter Games and have had the pleasure skiing Whistler Blackcomb so when Cranmore and The Eastern Slopes Ski Club put together a fundraiser for local Olympian Leanne Smith I jumped in with both ski boots and donated one of my "On the Hill With Bill" packages to the silent action cause... The pre-bidding is underway so thanks to all that know what an epic day of images on the hill looks like... Details for tonight's live event at Cranmore tonight can be found here. Good fortune to Leanne and watch out World... BL
